My apologies if this is covered elesewhere but I couldn't see it....
...the AO7 is available at www.svp.co.uk for circa £115.00 (I forget exactly), it's listed in the hardware and also the special offers section.
SVP reports it will be released officially in a fortnight and be in the sub-£100 range which is a suprise, I only bought the AO6 as I imagined Pioneer would pitch the drive similar in price to the x8 Plextor (circa £175.00).

This unit has dropped to under £100 now, although SVP are expecting stock the end of this month.
No, I don't work for SVP

got mine 2 days ago..
tested it on copying files from hard drive and compared to my pioneer 106.
only difference was about 1minute in total, compared to 106.
and film wouldnt play right on my LG-DA5620 theatre system.
saying its 8speed is a bit of a con, seeing as true x8media,isnt available anywhere yet.
and the fact its stuck at the x2 approx ripping speed.
nice price though.
but still the 106 is the better writer till the media catches up. -
will- no worries man, thought u may be interested 8)

How can you say it's a bit of a con to describe it as x8?
Just because you an't get the media doen't mean it isn't capable of it.
Cars can drive at 160mph but you can only drive them at 70mph, is that a con?
I don't see your point.
I'd be more pissed if Pioneer brought out a replacement to the AO6 that could only burn at x4.

I am about to buy my first DVD writer and am looking at the Pioneer, but is there a big disadvantage buying OEM instead of boxed??
Also is the Pioneer much better than the NECND2500? -
i believe OEM may have a shorter garantee, but the main difference is that retail boxed may contain more software!
the 2500 is the better buy at the moment, as although it burns slightly slower than the pioneer, it is even higher burn quality, + it allows 8x burning on 4x media!
however, the pioneer will be able to burn 8x on 4x media in about a month (with firmware update) so the pioneer is probably the better long term investment. they are both v good1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!

Hell, some don't even come with screws or a audio cable!
Listen, that thing you wanted...
....I'll do it this weekend and post Monday, okay pal?

x8 speed media, and time saved, do not equal the expense,IMO.
wish id never bought it.
another years guarantee, and pretty much the same writer, dont equal quality in my book.
anyways, its like 3 minutes faster, supposidly if your lucky.
and the x8 media are stupidly more expensive.
think ill just stick with my ritekx4 +,and - for the moment,as i get them for less than 75p a disc. -
