  1. hi guys, im just having this problem and wondered if anyone can help me.

i am making a dvd with clips from various films.

im using DVD Shrink re-author mode (start and end) to get the clips i want from films, then saving them to hard drive. Shrink creates audio_ts ands video_ts folders for each clip ive saved.

Now when i add the clips dvd shrink authored for me to TMPGEnc DVD Author, some of the clips add fine with the AC3 soundtrack (i have the AC3 plugin installed) and some come up with GOP is too Large, if i choose "ignore" and carry on, the end result gives a jerky clip, once played back with power dvd.

Now im tried everything and found that, putting the 'Large GOP' clips through TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 Wizard NTSC cures the problem and TMPGEnc DVD Author doesnt give the GOP is too large error, but once the clip is authored and is played back with Power DVD the clip runs like its in slow motion while the sound carries on normally out of sync.

Anyone know how i can properly fix this?

i tried MPEG-VCR to scan the vobs that have 'large GOP' errors and it says that there are no errors to be found.

Is there away to sort this out?

so basically i have the VOB file of the clips that say the GOP is to large, what do i need to do from here?

    any help much appreciated!

    thanks

    This may help:

Especially read the part about Rejig -ing after DVDShrink.

    It MIGHT be your problem.

It HAS to be that you are not using the factory set chapter points from the original DVD.

    OK...that is MY guess anyway....wish I could help more....sorry.

  6. I've seen this message on original DVD material - try DVDLab instead.

  7. Like Heck said, I too believe shrink has caused this problem.

I would consider using TMPGenc and demux/mux those vob files into a normal MPEG2 video file. If you had Ulead VideoStudio or a similar program, load one of your files and maybe clip a few seconds off somewhere, and use the programs 'Smart Render' function to create a new file. This should repair the file just like VirtualDub can repair an AVI file using it's 'Direct Stream Copy' mode.

In UL V6 it's simple to setup the project template setting to match those of the imported clip, but on V7 it sometimes is a little more difficult to do. (That is one of the reasons I don't use V7). I'm not sure what other programs offer 'Smart Render' but I imagine there are several to choose from.

When UL is preforming that Smart Render it won't display the video as its working but the video will show either stopped or a black screen. If you 'see' the motion of the video it's not using the smart feature, it's encoding. This is not what you want to do.

Best of luck. Hope this helps.
