alright, here they are:
Maxell MXGL01 dvd-rs rated at 2x (10 pack)
tdk 2x armor plated dvd-rs (5 pack)
fuji 4x TAIYO YUDEN 4X DVD-R (10 pack)
I have them right now and in the process of burning some movies with them. Just trying to decide which media is best as some of my Ritek media seems to be failing on me as some of the disks have read errors and some movies tend to skip.
I have just burnt a movie on the fuji one and plays fantastic as well as the maxells. Will test the TDKs later on.
Cheers!

i can tell you from experience that the armor-plated dvd's are awesome. Can't remember the media code right now, but I think it's ricohjpnr or something good. want a good laugh? Try to scratch each one of them, don't use a fork or anything, but rub them around on a table with some salt spilled on it for a while, then rinse then off and tell me which one still plays.

Yeah those TDK's are excellent discs

i'm sure these disks will last a long time
the other brands are working fantastic as well, but I may want to start getting these armor plated TDKs only. Just wish they came in a spindle.
I'm willing to pay the extra costs for quality media that will preserve these precious memories for years to come. -

gee, on sale for $4 each? i don't think so. less expensive solution is to burn 2 copies of your video with great $1 media (Ricohs or whatever), put one away and don't use it until the first one is so scratched that it cannot play. at that point you might make another copy of this 2nd copy as a backup. by that time the $1 media will probably cost 25 to 50 cents.
personally i would be more concern whether the dye in the media will stand the test of time. from the looks of it both TDKs (standard and armored) use the same dye. -
