  1. hi everyone,
    bought a brand new 40 gigabytes hard disk. one month after, i format the disk and the 40 gigabytes is now only 36 gigabytes. what happened to my goddamm 4 gigabytes. please help me. what went wrong?

  2. Did you ever see those coin machines where you drop in all your coins and gives you money for it but charges you a few dollars?

    well in this case when you reformatted it cost you a few GB. Thats all.

    When you format a hard drive, sector addresses and FATs have to be created and catalogued, lest your computer will never know where the data is stored.

  4. You should not lose 4gig for any reason. Other than Hard drive failures. There's something definitly jacked up. Do a full Clean format with the software it came with. It should be around 38.Xgig. A 40gig drive isn't 40gig it's 38.0-39.Xgig depending on FAT32, FAT16 or NTFS format
