  1. I record with eyeTV300. Then I want to burn the filmson DVD using Toast6.

Problem is that the films are longer than 60 minutes. eyeTV doesn't have the possibility to split and Toast just tells me that the saved mpwg file doesn't fit on a DVD.

    Predator 2 is 5.2GB long - 800MB to much for a DVD.
Is there a way to shrink the mpeg file to fit on a single DVD or do I have to cut it into pieces? That would be wasted DVD material, as I only use 800MB from 4.4GB of the second disc.

  2. I think you have to use other software to shrink it to fit 4.5G.

    1. author a dvd from the target mpeg file.
    2. shrink it. DVD2One (for Mac?) or DVD shrink (for PC)

(I think this kind of things are easier on PC.)

Otherwise, you have to divide the target file into 2 piceses.

Do what you were doing with toast, but instead of clicking BURN go up to FILE and SAVE AS. This will create a dvd image that is too big to burn to a dvdr.

    now, mount the image.

Open DVD2ONE and have it select the VIDEO_TS folder from there. Set it to 4444MB and you will get a NEW VIDEO_TS folder that is perfect size to burn on dvdr.

2 steps. Cant get any easier than that!

Well, if you literally only use 800MB of the second DVD, you could try a miniDVD. I wouldn't suggest that though, seems unnecessary. DVD2oneX would be your obvious choice otherwise.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

I think the problem is the mpeg files is 800 megs too big
when thats authored to dvd it will be even more than 800 megs over.

do the dvd2one method. Its the best and you get 1 dvdr not 1 and a mini or 2 disks

Is there a program on MAC that will preserve the original quality and split the DVD into two DISCs of 4.7 ea?.

( I'm looking for the one click style- like DVD FAB or DVD SPLIT or one of the others on WIN)

I've used DVD2ONE to eliminate extras, but what If you just want the extras on another disc (original quality) instead?
