have pioneer 106 and tried lots of different 4x +r & -r media (bulkpaq, datasafe, datwrite, imation) but they will only burn at 2.4x
latest firmware installed, dma set.
using dvd shrink to rip & x-oom movie clone to burn.

aint 2.4X for +RW/-RW media ?
got an AO6 also id recomend using the new firmware !!!It appears that the CPU was operating so fast that it began to execute instructions before they arrived. This execution of future instructions created a small tear in space-time itself through which part of the cpu passed into a parallel universe -
stvn is right... re-reading your orig. post your problem
may just lie in the fact you are using re-writable DVD's.
Also forgot to mention - you need to download a copy
of nero to allow dvdshrink to burn cd's. You do not
need to get v6.x which is huge, however, just one of
the versions around v5.5xxxx -
as i said in original post i am using +r & -r blank media not rw media.
i have latest firmware 1.07.
using the 4x media listed in my original post it takes 22 mins to burn a 4 gb vid file to the media that means that the burn speed i am getting is 2.4 and not 4x which would let me burn in 13-14 mins -
Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was only DVD+R that could be recorded at X2.4 (or higher). DVD-R is recorded at whole figure speeds (no decimals) eg. X1 X2 X4.
Anyhow, I think this has been overlooked, other parts of you computer may have difficultly with that data transfer rate. Just a wild guess and probably wrong :/ -

DVD Decrypter>DVDShrink>CopyToDVD -
22 minutes sounds about right for a 4X burn. I've got the Pioneer 106 and when you include finalizing and other tasks, increase and decrease on burn speed depending where on the disc it's burning and that's about right.
Try burning with DVD Decrypter and you'll see the burn speed go anywhere from 2X to 4.4X------------------------------------------------

22 mins for a 4 gb video file from hdd to blank media is 2.4 speed burn and that is on +r media
i also have nec 1100a and it burns same file to 4x speed media in 13 mins
work it out

tried nero & stomp rtm with both i get a lot of errors and coasters - cyclic redundancy errors etc and when i did not get errors i was still not able to burn to 4x
x-oom movie clone is dvd burning software
and best i have tried - simple straightforward and get no coasters or error msg's -
i have the same problem. have a pioneer 106 and can copy fine using a verbatim 2x dvd-rw but when i then go to a piodata(made for pioneer) dvd -r 4x i get parts that have large pixels and the audio jumps and then locks up. i have a jvc vx-d723 dvd player. this happens when using the latest shrink program or dvd xcopy xpress. using nero 5.5 and pioneer program said my orig firmware is current.
can you change the speed using these two programs because i dont see it. sometimes the copy on the 4x works fine on the pc but on the stand alone player it locks up. any other ideas. help.
