Hi all,
For the longest time I have been using DVD Decrypter to rip my DVD's, and DVD shrink to compress and back up. Problem is I got the stupid Pioneer front loading DVD reader which caps at 2X while ripping with DVD Decrypter.
Well, I thought it was real clever when I figured out DVD Shrink would actually rip the movies too - and much faster! - So I ripped and shrank 25 or so movies to my hard drive and luckily only burned a few to disk...
Problem is, it seems all the movies I have ripped this way cut off somewhere in the middle of the movie! Watch maybe an hour, maybe an hour and fifteen (no consistency to the time or chapters) and it just stops, refuses to play any futhther.
Here's the interesting part: The movie chokes in my Panasonic DVD player, and chokes using InterActual player on the PC; but plays FINE using WinDVD either from the DVD or the hard drive.
How can this be? The data is all obviously there...
Anyhow, if anyone has heard of this, can I fix it? Can these 20 or so back ups be saved by redecrypting or something?
Thanks for any advice!

You might try ripping the backups with Decrypter and then reburning them- try RW disk first to see if it works. If not, then you could try opening the ripped files in TMPGEnc DVD Author and re-compile the disk.
You might think about getting a different DVD ROM to rip with. I use a Liteon and Decrypter rips at 7-14X. -
Well, I've now tried with three movies to Rerip using DVD Decrypter and no luck... Basically, after having reripped I try to send the movies back through DVD Shrink, and during the initial analysis I get the following error:
"DVD Shrink encountered and error and cannot continue; Failed to open the file "C:\Moviex\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0#.VOB"; The system cannot find the file specified"
Weird thing is the VTS_01_0# file does not exist; it is always one number over the highest # on the DVD (or the files produced by decrypter).
Has any one seen this? I had this same exact problem the other day when trying to Decrypt and Shrink a stock movie...
Thanks,
Jayman
