TempGenc DVD Author - logo, then Menu page

I'm trying to have the disk start with a still image (a logo) which I made into an .mpg and it runs 4 seconds.

After that I want the main menu to appear with a title and four thumbnails, linked to four separate .mpgs. A playall button is at the bottom.

There is video only, no sound.

I got the first page to open, then switch to the menu page, but the first thumbnail is of the logo page and is linked to go back to the start.

Is there any way to do this properly or am I asking too much from this 30 day trial?

Good question. I had a play with this proggy for the 1st time yesterday and had a similar problem. All I could do was edit and shrink the offending thumbnail (motion video) to almost nothing & drag it under the play all button. There must be a better way to hide the 1st track!

This is called an introduction video. I don't believe DVD Author has this option. I do think Ulead_Video_Studio_V6 does.

After that I want the main menu to appear with a title and four thumbnails, linked to four separate .mpgs. A playall button is at the bottom.

When you get to the menu creation page click on the drop down list box and choose to Create a New Menu. In the layout box for the top menu I think it's 'Layout 4 #2' you want. After you get back to the create menu page you can click 'Edit Menu Theme' and adjust the menu items if you want.

Click 'Display Menu Setting' then the tab labeled "Motion Menus". Here you can make your motion choices. When I desire a single photo background with music I use an outside program and create a low bitrate mpeg2 clip with my photo and my music. Duration about 30-45 sec. then select that as my background image and turn on motion menus. If you desire just a jpg photo and music I don't think the program offers those options, or at least I haven't found them. Sonic MyDVD does.

You need to setup the menu options box properly. Click 'Display Menu Setting' then the General Tab. The commands are located in the drop down list box. You should be able to setup menu behavior easily there. Also, to rid yourself of that 'first page', so to speak, on the Generals Tap in Display Menu Settings choose "Main Menu Only", then uncheck all the boxes beside the chapters in the tab labeled "Chapter Display". That will give you only the main menu screen. To varify these setting note on the bottom of the screen that the buttons "Next Page" and "Previous Page" are 'greyed out' meaning they don't exist.

Pinch me if I'm wrong, but you can do everything you want except the introduction video with that program. Trial version or not. lol

I haven't tried it myself yet. But I think you can have your logo play before the menu comes up. Just make a short mpg of your logo. Put that mpg, the logo, as the first track. Then add the other tracks and make the menu as usual.

While you're in the menu screen, on the upper right hand side, just under the "Options" button, you will see a drop down menu, called "First Play Action". If you hold the mouse over that drop down menu without clicking it, you'll see a yellow help screen poping up. That screen will explain your options. You basically want to choose "Play only first track". After the first track is played, according to the help screen, the menu will come up. And that's it. Good luck. Let us know how it works out.
