got this from FulciLives Zombie
Try this ...
Take a DVD you want to back up that is a DVD5 disc (single layer) and RIP it with DVD DECRYPTER in ISO READ mode.
This creates a single large ISO file on your computer's HDD. This ISO file is called an IMAGE file.
Now put DVD DECRYPTER in ISO WRITE mode and select the ISO from your HDD and burn it to a DVD

i tried the dvd decrypter in the iso file, but it ripped the movie 57% out of 100%. so it stayed at 57% for about a hour so i got tired and stopped it. so do u recommend any other tools i can use.

It sounds like an error on the DVD, or a scratch/smudge on the DVD. I've run into this problem. Try cleaning the DVD, then try ripping it again. Also, if it's a back-up, you don't have to "rip" it, you can use Windows Explorer to just drag and drop the file to a new DVD, or folder on you HD.

First make folders VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS somewhere on your pc. Go to EXPLORER>>CLICK ON YOUR DVDROM DRIVE LETTER(where the backed up dvd is)>>OPEN UP THE VIDEO_TS FOLDER FILE IN THERE>>COPY WHATEVER IS IN THE VIDEO_TS FOLDER>>> PASTE IT INTO THE NEWLY CREATED VIDEO_TS FOLDER YOU MADE. THEN USE NERO BURN TO BURN YOUR NEWLY BACKED UP DVD OF A BACKED UP DVD. LOL! SORRY FOR THE CAPS!

budz, i like that idea better, but can u give me a quick and easy way of making a audio and video folder.
NOW YOU HAVE CREATED A "BACKUP MOVIE FOLDER" WITH A VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS FOLDER.
I've never used copytodvd but I assume you can just drag the files from the newly created video_ts folder to the copytodvd burning program. If you can wait till the end of the week NERO will have their free demo version up.
I found a site where you can download a demo of NERO.

i tried your way with making a audio and video folder, but this problem is still hear. this back up dvd has 3 folders vts_01_1, vts_01_2,vts_01_3. now i draqg and drop the second and third folder, but the first vts_01_1,will not do anything, it seems as if my drive can read it, but it just stops. i saw the movie on the dvd and the movie is perfect, but i want it for myself. so any suggestions.and also i don't have the original ,this is a friends movie.

try rebooting and before doing anything else -- move the file .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
