  1. Hi

    I seem to get on tv watching a dvd I have made from VCR video tape ... The picture flickers abit on the bottom , I know this is called overscan because you can see this on your pc when you watch the captured video.... Does anyone have any tips on how to remove this please?

    It is common from VHS captures to have some ugliness at the bottom of the picture. You can cut this off and replace it with black. Usually you need to either chop 12 or 16 from the bottom.

    I usually chop of 16 from the bottom then shift the image down so as to have 8 black on top and 8 black on the bottom. This way the picture is centered and there is less chance of seeing the black on a TV since you only have 8 on each top/bottom rather than 16 all on the bottom.

    TMPGEnc Plus has a CLIP function that can do this. You can also do this with AviSynth scripting which then frees you to use CINEMA CRAFT ENCODER (aka CCE) if you prefer that program over TMPGEnc Plus.

    Oh yes you can also do this in VirtualDub as well.
