Wow!!! Since the French have never won a war, does that mean that the music industry is going to soon surrender to the downloaders?

kind of strange dont you think? Lol -
I wasn't aware there were any French recording artists? I mean at all. I've heard of British and German pop/rock stars, but never a French one. I guess French speaking artists can only sell CD's in France and small parts of canada (and what, 1 African country that escapes me at the moment).
This goes hand in hand with 'Guilty until you prove you are Innocent', as the law is now being enforced. Someone complains about a copyright and your ISP pulls the plug until you prove it's not copyrighted. Gotta love other contries...... I know that the copyright laws in the UK are stronger than the USA. There is no "fair use" clause for a start, so you are not allowed to copy anything without permission and a license from the MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society). This includes ripping a CD onto your hard drive or copying it onot a cassette tape. A couple of years ago, a website (I think it was mp3.com) had a facility where you could upload your CD's to their site and then listen to them from anywhere in the world via a PC. Paul McCartney successfully sued them for breach of copyright claiming that people had not bought the music they were uploading, but only bought the facility to listen to it at home on their individual CD players! Likewise you are not allowed to play that CD to a group of more than (I think) 6 people without a preformance license from the PRS.
The whole situation is crazy! -
hey gazorgan!
here's a couple:
-air <space-age bachelor pad stuff - made us hits on Virgin Suicides soundtrack>
-stereolab <my fav.- best band EVER!> -
all right, all right, so stereolab is from the UK - but they sing in french! 8)
wait - what about K.I.M. or MC Solaar?!? -
the only thing the french ever download are things like old jerry lewis movie, and a 10001 things to do with cheese

theres a great cd of french hip hop music called LE FLOW it has some great stuff on it, but you wont be able to understand the french lyrics, unless you speak french, but i still like it.
