  1. There is a new site on the web for custom covers. It will be for DVD covers as well as many other types of covers.
I discussed it in other forums, but thought i would post it here as well.

http://www.coverfiend.com (this link works but only the forum is actually live right now.

It is brand new but i hope to start getting it going strong over the holidays. I am still working on the main site and database, but the forum is up and working, to the best of my knowledge. Please register and feel free to drop me a line. I will begin to upload covers and such soon.

Just to recap this site is for custom dvd covers, custom video game covers, and whatever else you can think of. I am going to be converting a bunch of my PC games like halo, call of duty, bf1942 and more.

Check it out! Hopefully it will become a good alternative/supplement to the other sites on the net.
Movie covers, Game covers, PC covers, and more!

The site was interesting - but forgive me (I'm a little slow) - what's the point?

I checked out the site, and it looks very slick. Sparse, but slick. Good luck with it, but for now, I'm sticking with dvdcoverart.com.

You didn't get the memo? There are no browsers other than Internet Explorer. There never were any browsers other than Internet Explorer. There never will be any browsers other than Internet Explorer. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated into the Microsoft Collective.

Oh yea.....Netscape....I've heard of them. I thought Mozilla was a pop-up killer or something like that.

  10. IE is sort of OK if you don't mind accepting cookies galore, but give me Mozilla any day of the week. It hasn't got all that bloatware that slows down browsing that Microcough has and allows me to decide what I'll let a web site put on my PC.

Site looks nice and all but, "Max File Size: 100kb?"

    What's the point?

Compatibility and to foster competition with MS, after all do you really want Billy Gates to have a total monopoly? I know I don't and I also know there is growing numbers of people out there who are using Linux and MS browsers don't work under that operating system, wheras Netscape does have browsers that work on Linux.

    So there! :P

Who are you talking to Duchess? You either quoted the wrong person or took it way out of context.

  18. Ok everyone. I know its been a bit, but i finally got all the bugs worked out and I just re-released the site.

I hope to see many of you guys and gals, over there.

Hopefully we will get a bunch game covers.

I already have around 60 covers being uploaded.
With at least 30-40 more from another artist. And I will most likely begin working on the Custom Disc labels portion. For more info on that, plus example of high res art, check out the post here>>> https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=195628. It should be real obvious which ones ar mine.

If you did upload covers to my FTP, please login and and fill in your info on the upload page. This will make sure that you receive the proper credit for your covers.

As far as the 100kb thing that adam spoke of.....I think maybe you were looking at something for a thumbnail max size, or something.

Because this site is going to offer files as large as 40mb!! I already have around 20 covers at 600dpi.

Well, thats all for now. I hope to see you all there.

  19. I found this one: www.coversdvd.com

It's a portuguese site with thousands of 300 dpi covers all free. they're still translating the site to english, but you can send an email to info@coversdvd.com in order to get yourself registered and have some help.

    Very nice covers, all free.

  20. Ok, just an update on my site www.coverfiend.com This site now has a lot of covers, and the NEW disc label section has launched. It features many of the High resolution disc art that you have seen me post on this site. Be sure to come over and check and register for all the new features and artwork.

I hope this becomes the place for great custom work.

I want you to WHOOP dvdcoverart.com's ass

    ... pretty please

That place seriously pissed me off.

All that trouble getting covers from them. After I finally got the to take one of mine... after they bitched about retard things... I got to download the 2 covers I wanted from them. And guess what? Both of them had WRONG INFORMATION on them. Episodes were all out of order. Talk about having the wrong priorities. They were all so worried about the fine print on back being a "little soft" but them totally ignored info on other covers... the REAL IMPORTANT STUFF ... being 100% wrong.

coverfiend, I support you 100% ... as long as you don't make the same mistakes of those other two sites .. (cdcovers.cc has some horrid 72dpi resolution covers)

In the future, as I find time, I may assist you in scans and custom art.

  22. Thanks. I appreciate the comments. We will not be runing low res stuff like that horrendous 72dpi stuff on cdcoverscc.

We can always use more stuff, so feel free to upload your own stuff. I see you have already registered.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, isn't it possible that they instituted their stringent acceptance policy to avoid repeating the same mistakes that allowed the covers you downloaded to be accepted? Just guessing, you understand; I don't know when they were uploaded, but isn't it possible that they got onto the site before the Evil Crackdown(tm)?

Most of the earlier covers uploaded on dvdcoverart are indeed very bad. They really didn't check the covers much back then, but they are slowly getting phased out because most of the time when someone notices a problem they post a comment and then make a formal request for a replacement. I've done this 3 times and all 3 times it was replaced within a couple of weeks by another user. Out of about 250 covers that I have downloaded there have only been about 5 that needed to be touched up. That's not bad at all. I love the fact that they scrutinize the covers that come in now. I feel much better downloading from them because I know I'm going to get a high quality cover. And I have never had any problems getting any of my covers approved by them, though it does take them a little over a week to approve it.

    stangyamahar1 the site looks great.

You obviously did not look at the site much. It is larger than DVDCA as far as information, resources, etc.. and has game covers. Keep in mind that unless you are registered you cannot see many of the other pages, etc.. We do not have quite as much content (covers), yet... as we have only been up for about three weeks, but we are getting new stuff every day, and we do have games covers. The ones we have are all high res, and not available enywhere else that i know of. I have created custom covers for Halo, and a few others, and they are one of a kind.
