Hi Everyone~

1st time posting to this group. Have read many informative posts and am hoping that someone can lead me in the right direction.

I've searched the net for information in regards to my DVD Players Region Capabilities...I have a Pioneer DV-C 503 player. I was lead to believe that it plays all regions 1 thru 6 along with the fact that it macrovision free!
Great, I go out and buy one and so does my friend. These are the same identical models purchased from the same store. I can verify that it is macrovision free, but I just recently got the entire 1st season of Dark Angel on DVD from Japan...it clearly says Region 2 which my player should play, but I get the 'Wrong Region Code' error on my screen and the player ejects the Disc. I called my friend and asked him if he had a problem with any of his foriegn discs...and he said no. I asked him if he did any special tweaking, he could not recall, but he says all he has to do is put
the disc in and it plays. On the net I found instructions on programing the DVD Player to whatever Region you wanted thru the remote. It did not say wether or not it was restricted to how many times (6 times is common in most
players). So I try to program the player via the remote and it won't change!!!

Does anyone know if somewhere in the production of the DV-C 503 they changed the chip set to block out the Region settings from the remote?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm waiting to watch Jessica Alba!!!!!!
