blank dvd (but its not realy)

i have borrower a dvd off a friend of my mates stag night and tried to copy it for the lads but when i put it in my machine nero says blank disc
smartripper says no dvd found it plays fine in my standalone we have copied it on my mates comp but im curious why this happened on mine

i run win xp
512 ddr
3.2
on a gigabyte board

any advice anyone

Some (mostly older) dvd-roms have problems reading some dvd+-r/w media.

Do you see any files on the dvd if you browse with explorer or is it empty or not readable at all?

the dvd is empty it says no dvd in drive if i use nero to see whats on the disc it says its blank
