  1. Hi

I have just started using TMPG DVD author. I have a wedding video dvd which I want to put chapters and menus in and then reburn it to a dvd-r.

The source is mpeg2 ( video_ts and audio_ts folders) the sound is ac3 48000mhz. I selected the the contents of the video_ts folder as my input source.

I can get the chapters and menus fine and have cut some small sections out. The problem is when i play back the new dvd i have burnt the audio sync starts to go out gradually half way through the movie.

I have the AC3 plug in for TMPG DVD author.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi nightmare_ger,

    Various questions:
    1. Does any footage (incl. audio) exist (on DV tape, in AVI files etc.) prior to it becoming MPEG2 with AC3?
    2. Does the MPEG2 file (audio particularly) play OK on your PC?
    3. Does the gradual audio de-sync start at the same point where you make your first edit in TDA? If not, is it at any significant point in relation to any actions you've taken?

I can't guarantee I can help, but (depending on the answers to the above), I may be able to point you (roughly) in the right direction based on things I've seen in other posts. It'll be a start, hopefully, if nothing else.

The orginal DVD is fine it was made from from DV tape that was edited using an avio system and burnt on a standard dvd recorder.

    Yes no probs

I can't tell exactly where it starts as some section have music playing instead of talking but the first place I did notice was not long past a new chapter. Do you think cutting sections may have caused this??

    Hi nightmare_ger,

Do you still have the DV tape? I'm presuming you don't.

It could be the way in which you've got the mpeg from the home DVD. I've not done this before, so can't comment. Anyone know if this can cause audio sync problems?

...I did notice was not long past a new chapter. Do you think cutting sections may have caused this??
Though I would guess that this is more likely to be the culprit. Again, I've not edited in TDA but do know that editing with mpeg's can cause audio synch problems - it may be the same with TDA.

You could always edit your mpeg using Womble MPEG VCR (I've read a good number of times that people think it's great, where many others fail) before you pull it into TDA.

That's all my knowledge / experience can suggest.

    Hope that helps. Good luck...
