Sunday Jan 25 through Sat Jan 31 IOMagic 8X + burner for $100 USD. I don't know if it is any good, but I might go buy one and find out. Time to research and see if it is worth my money.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  2. I/O Magic and Magic Spin brands sometimes rebadge an Optorite and sometimes a BTC. More recently is more Optorite. In any case, why do you want to spend $100 plus $9 in sales tax, plus gas money to go to the store, when you can get the NEC2500 delivered to your door from newegg.com for $117 ?????

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Just thought I would pass the info along.

Looks to me like you were telling us of good deal and sort of wondering if it was a good deal ...when you wrote the Research sentence.

And someone VERY NICE also did research and found a TOP rated burner for just a couple more bucks. 2500A and Newegg seem to be a good combo ... IOMAGIC is a burner people are not even sure what it is ... would you buy a AMCO computer with NO reviews and that NO-ONE ever heard about or a DELL or HP with Wonderful Reviews for just a few dollars more?
Then you get all huffy and insulted when someone let's us know a better deal.
Get your IOMAGIC and let the rest of us get the NEC 2500a at Newegg!

  8. i'm getting the i/o magic tomorrow for $99. I will try it for 20-30 days, if i dont like it I will exchange it for sony or tdk, which are a little more spendy, but for $99 I figure it's worth a try.

I will report back and let you all know on coasters, software, etc.

Ask the store personel if you can open the box and check to see if it is one of the better brand of writer. The better brand seems to be the Optorite drive, and the sticker should have a model number DD0401 on it. If it doesn't you might not want to get that drive.

Does $50 sound better? If you have a Staples and an OfficeDepot in your area, you can buy the drive from OfficeDepot for $150 ($50MIR) then have them price match Staples...AND you still get your $50 in rebates ($20 and $30 one from OD and one from IOMagic).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Is that IOmagic rebate just for Office Depot, or for the drive from anywhere?

Here's a copy of the I/O Magic rebate form

    http://rebateimages.teg-online.com/81428.jpg

It doesn't specify which store it has to be purchased from so it's worth a shot. There aren't any other rebates so it's not like you'll have any other use for the UPC.
