  1. Trying to burn a mpeg file with correct audio sync to DVD.

Using a HP 300i DVD Writer (DVD+R) and the software is Arcsoft Showbiz DVD.

I created a simple menu with 6 chapters using the limited options of the Arcsoft Showbiz software.

The final product had a noticable audio sync problem that 'seemed' to worsen with every new chapter.

Is this common? I'd hate to burn DVDs with no chapters. Or will I have a audio sync problem even without chapters?

Is there a better burn program I should look into?

  3. Sounds like everyone has the same problem.

Called HP who sold me Arcsoft with my DWD Writer and they were pretty much useless. They directed me to a patch that didn't seem to have anything to do with my issues.

So now I am stuck with crap grade software that doesn't work.

Can anyone recommend good software compatable with a 300i DVD+R Writer?

Bundled software is generally useless. I mean if it can be given away for practically free, how good can it be? Nearly all bundled software has some major limitations to it.

TMPG Author is pretty good, and relatively cheap. Has a 30 day free trial. Free trials are your friend! There are other Authoring options, but each has it's strenghs and limitations (usually in the Audio).

If you need an encoder also, I reccomend TMPGEnc which also has a 30 day free trial and is fairly cheap. Although both TMPG products run more than most dual format 4x burners (except the HP which is more expensive relatively speaking).

Inserting a chapter point will do nothing to your audio. Your problems sound like DROP FRAME TIMING vs NON DROP FRAME TIMING videos. This is usually the cause of audio sync "creepage".

  6. although a very long time ago (before i had the better equipment that i do now) i was making a dvd with the older sonic fusion. Interestingly enough when i added chapters the final clip was out of sync, yet when i removed the chapters within the same project it worked fine. So i did this a few times (to test) with this project and clip, and sure enough each time chapters were added, the clip would lose sync. So i guess it could somehow be possible?
