Hi there, I have a friend who purchased an Akai ADV32ST surround sound DVD player. This unit will only play OEM DVD's and OEM CD Audio discs!
I recently made a copy of a DVD that I own (On DVD+R Media) and a copy of a DVD that he owns (On DVD-R) Media using the excellent DVD Shrink.
This unit also has a problem with copied CD's (Old ones that I own) which according to Cloney XL have no copy protection on them. I have tried a copy in Nero as well.
This unit will not play anything that has been copied!!! ARGH!!!!
You can go down to the local $2.00 store and buy a crappy OEM CD Audio disc, and it will play it!
I have discovered how to remove the Macrovision protection off the DVD player, and changed the region to Zone 9 (There wasnt any Zone 0 choice) default was zone 4, turned off the unit, turned it on, rechecked the macrovision and zone settings (Still as I had set them) Tryed to play both DVD+R and DVD-R and a copied CD Audio disc, and it STILL wont play them...just says loading.....and hangs.
Is this player looking for something else on the CD Audio/DVD recorded disks? It has become a challenge to me now, and thru stubborness, I'm not going to give up
Any ideas people on how to get this brute to play anything other than OEM CD Discs and OEM DVD Disks?
Cheers Chris
