  1. I've got the Pan E30 and starting to feel the limitations of not being to edit. Thinking of getting a Panny with HD and want to ask a few questions first. If I record a vhs tape with 2 or more episodes of a tv show to the HD, I can then play it back, fast scan to first commercial break, edit it, fast scan to next commercial break, edit it, at end of episode divide it from the others and then repeat with second episode and so on. Then record the edited and seperated episodes to a DVD-R. When I bring up the direct navigator of the DVD-R the episodes will be seperste programs with the commercials gone. Finalize and I'm in business. If this is how it works:
    1. Do the models with HD have the black level bug?
    2. Did they fix the problem of the audio 30 seconds before edit being erased?
    3. HD use is unlimited as long as you deleted programs when finished with them to free up space?
    4. After editing can you find out the exact length of the programs so you can use flexible record when transferring to an DVD-R?
    5. Any problems with Fuji media, it's all I use in the E30. Never a failure.
    6. What's the model to get?
    Thanks.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative you can just buy the Panny S35 DVD Player, which also plays DVD-RAM. Do your edits on RAM on the E30, then place the disc in the S35 and record to +R disc on the E30. I've been doing this for a couple of years now. Just a thought!

Just making sure that it does not confuse people. E30 records to -R and not to +R.

  7. You may want to consider the E80 also

    1. No black level bug
    2. No audio dropout after editing
    3. HD use is unlimited
    4. You can use FR to fit to disk, but most people use Hi speed dub so you dont loose quality due to re-encoding
    5. Never used Fuji, but never had a coaster with TDK or Sony.
    6. What's the model to get - the E80

  8. I have he E80H and media is no problem people have post saying the E100HS is more picky when it come's to media and the E80H is not picky. Some older E80H seem to be little picky that when Panasonic start to bring them over from Japan but I think they fixed there media problem. so far my E80H take ever thing. I bought mine at www.6ave.com lost price on the planet.
