  1. I am a newbie to digital video. I am using a Adaptec VideOh! PCI capture card with MyDVD and the sound and picture are out of sync. After I capture the analog video from my VCR it saves it as mpeg and I go to Arcsoft edit software. The sound and video are out of sync still. Then I click "make movie" and save it as mpeg2 format. Its still out of sync.

But if I import it to Adobe Premiere its still out of sync. But the preview clip in the top left corner is lined up perfect! Then if I output the movie to a AVI its perfect. Sound quality, the audio is synced up perfect. What could cause this?

If I'm not mistaken the capture card you have is BEST suited for capturing to an AVI file instead of direct to MPEG-2 since the MPEG-2 conversion is done with software which can cause a lot of problems especially with lip sync UNLESS you have an ultra fast computer.

Try to capture in AVI using HuffyUV or the PICVideo MJPEG codec and then convert to MPEG-2 with TMPGEnc or CCE and that should work better for you.

  3. Like I said above I am real new to all this. I get lost in all the terminology. I Downloaded the HuffyUv codec. I installed it. Now how do I use it? Do I use it with my exiting software such as MyDVD?

  4. When I capture it doesn't give me the option of AVI. It just captures and saves them as mpeg.

You have to use iuVCR or VirtualVCR or TheFlyDS

Those programs will let you capture using HuffyUV

Well all these capture programs require that you "set it up" by picking your capture card and your audio and what video and audio codecs you will be using the video system you are using (NTSC or PAL etc) the resolution size etc.

You just can't install it and hit CAPTURE

  9. If I have Adobe Premeire should I just use that? This might save me alot of trouble. Becuase When I capture with MyDVD its out of sync. After I biring it into Premeire its fine. I export it as AVI. Take the AVI into MyDVD and it looks fine there. Can I record AVI?

  10. Back to my origininal thought.. have any of you used the VideOh! PCI card with MyDVD and had the same out of sync issues? The manual says if the playback is jittery or out of sync it will be fine once on DVD and played on TV. I want to beleive this becuase if I take the mpg into Premiere its ok.

  12. I have the Adaptec USB2.0 capture device also. It captures directly to MPEG2. I have tried numerous DVD authoring prgrams and still cannot get the sound to sync on the final output to vob files. When I use TMPGEnc DVD Author the MPGE2 file plays perfectly even after editing. However when I burn it to a DVD the sound is out of sync. I have tried used MPEG-VCR program to "fix" the original captured file and still the final output from TMPGEnc DVD Author is out of sync. It is driving me crazy..............Greg
