Does P4 Hyper-threading work on Windows 98? Does it require XP?

  2. Win98 does not support more than 1 processor, therefore HT will not work. Even though HT does not require more than 1 physical processor, it presents itself to the O/S as 2 "virtual" processors and the OS multi-processor drivers (SMP HAL) must be installed to permit the OS to recoginize these "virtual" processors".

Linux, Win NT, Win 2000 Pro and Win XP Pro support SMP and therefore support HT. Win9X does not.

Win NT4 and 2000 do not support hyperthreading (properly) - so i think anyway .. ..
