  1. I got a video file, that is SUPPOSEDLY a SVCD [mpeg-2].
But when I tried to burn with Nero, it gives me the complaince warning, and I click 'Yes' to burn a XSVCD.
After, I tried playing the XSVCD on my DVD-Rom with at least 4 different programs. No play.

So I'm thinking to re-encode it to a compliant MPEG-2 for SVCD, but TMPGEnc will not let me open file because it is unsupported.

    The video file is: 640 x 480, 347MB, 24:35...
Nero said it was a MPEG-1, and that was the only problem...
Didn't say resolution was a problem, but Windows Media says its 640 x 480 and it LOOKS like 640 x 480...

  2. You say it's an MPEG-1. That would obviously be noncompliant. Must be a typo.

TMPG doesn't open MPEG-2 streams. Think about it, why would it accept its own output as input?

Windows media player plays it at 640x480 because the directshow filters you have installed notice its a SVCD.

Check your framerate. Unlike normal VCD, SVCD doesn't support 23.97 fps. If it's 23.97, make sure it's pulldown so it plays at the compliant 29.97. Make sure it's 29.97 fps and not 30.

    Check your MUX'er. I doubt it's a multiplex problem.

    Check audio sample rate.

  3. SVCD does support 23.97 FPS is just non standard. So if you have a 23.97 FPS SVCD is becomes an XSVCD

  4. Nero does recognize it as a MPEG-1
But I doubt it with the size of file and quality.

    Yes, I made the XSVCD.
But no DVD-Rom software played it. I tried WinDVD, PowerDVD, and Windows Media even.

    Nero's Analysis:

    - stream encoding which is invalid for a Video-CD
    - video: 29.97 frames/second, 480 x 480 pixels
    - audio: 44100Hz, 2 channels
    - MPEG-1 instead of MPEG-2

    What should I do?

  5. very esay solution. you have encoded your file in MPEG-2 program stream format instead of super video CD, i used to do this, and get nero saying it was MPEG-1. anyhow, open TMPGENC, goto file -> MPEG tool -> merge/cut
add your MPEG-2 program stream, make sure the tab at the top says MPEG-2 SUPER VIDEO CD, and output your file. simple as that
