  1. Hey this is my very first post. I really want to get into dvd burning, and I am about to purchase a NEC ND-2500A, because it got the top review for + burners out there. I want to buy this off ebay, but most of the auctions say that it is a "bare drive only," without cables or software. If this is an internal drive what kind of cables would I need to install it, and are these cables easy to find? And also, does anybody know of a website that shows you how to install an internal DVD burner, because I am a complete newb. Thank you very much!!

before you pick up one from eBay, go to PriceWatch and see what the going price is for that drive.

  4. You might not need cables since you might be able to just connect the drive as slave off one of the IDE channels. But software is something else. I am not aware of many freeware DVD authoring programs (ifoedit can do some authoring) and burning software so you will have to shell out for something here to be able to use the drive

Good advice to check out Pricewatch or other places to see just how much you are saving

  5. Hey I can purchase a package on Ebay that includes Nero burning suite 6 with the ND-2500A "bare drive only." Would think work as an authoring or as the "software" that you say I need. Thank you so much

My advice...if you're new to DVD burning and you're not sure what you need, eBay is probably not the way to go. Even if you don't want to go retail box, at least buy from a reputable retailer / e-tailer.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

  8. It's $126 dollars with NERO, but do you think the Nero software would work to author dvds.

Yep. Not worth the possible complications (bad drive, non-delivery, refurbished drive, etc. etc.).
