Has anyone ever used Illustrator? I recently downloaded the tryout version from the Adobe website and wanted to see if this program was capable of creating objects. Like say I wanted to make like a sign or a logo or something like that...would it be possible to do that with this program? Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated.

Illustrator is one of my favorite applications. Indeed it can do all that you mentioned. Most people don't realize the difference between pixel and vector art. Pixel art has its place, but vector art is almost always superior when creating logos and other art that needs to resized to many different sizes. I use Illustrator for almost all my design work. If you're looking at buying it get it as part of the Creative Suite. Having Photoshop and InDesign will allow you to do almost anything with print media.
