  1. Over the past couple of weeks I have played around with many software packages, my task, trying to convert some Divx.avi, so I'm taking the bold step in trying TMPGEnc Plus.
I have read many articles saying that these all in one packages that supposedly convert video/audio aren't what the are cracked up to be and I must admit I see their point, I've had no successes at all.

Many people on here have pointed me to TMPGEnc, so any prerequisites on settings and programs that will help me along the way would be most appreciated.

I'm using VitualDub 1.5.10 to test the video/audio, so I suppose I will be back to update this post after my first project.

Just for reference, I'm trying to convert to MPEG2 to go onto DVD, I haven't tried creating any VCDs or SVCDs

  2. Make sure you have all the relevant codecs installed and make sure that TMPGEN can see them otherwise you'll have "issues".

you might get more replys if you state what it is that you will be converting the avi to...dvd or svcd or vcd.
