  1. Ok, I just got a new Lite-on 851s DVD burner and some of the Memorex 4x DVD-R's from Best Buy.

I've read through the DVD shrink guides and done a search, but am still having some problems.

How do I just make a copy of my DVD, assuming I only have the one DVD drive?

I went through the tutorial, and tried backing up ID4 in DVD shrink. I had no problem ripping the TS_Audio and TS_Video files to my computer.

However, from there, how do I burn them to a DVD?

I have Nero 5.5, so I went through the steps to put it on a DVD, and selected the option "Image Recorder" as the location to "burn the files with Nero" to.

It then created a nero CD image and burned it to the DVD, but the DVD doesn't work. Also, there was no option anywhere to select the burning speed, am I missing something?

Thanks, sorry for being such a n00b

  2. Hi..
Im not shure if Nero 5.5 can burn DVD.. I use Nero 6.3
You go to option DVD Video...
take all the files in you TS_Video Folder (From the DVD that you create)and put in the
    VTS_Video folder of the nero..

    Burn it....
    Thats it....

I recommend use DVD RW... ok ..... just in case.

    Good look

  3. I agree with Poncho, upgrade Nero. I just backed up ID4, using DVD Shrink and Nero 6.0 and it works fine.

I use nero 5 with the latest update I don't remember right off hand what the version number is. Just go to there web site and Download the latest update for nero 5, and you'll be able to burn DVD's. The update is free if you have nero 5, but you will need to purchase nero 6 there is no free upgrade.

I don't think 5.5 properly supports DVD Video. 6.0.0.23 and 6.3.0.2 both do.

Get IMG tools classic (freeware). Use it to make a DVD complient ISO (image file, not Nero specific). Then use Nero to burn the image. The eliminates any NERO issues with DVD Video.

The way you burned your DVD won't work for multiple reasons.

Nero 5.5.10 has full DVD Video support. Early versions of Nero 6 were buggy. The latest version is okay so I'm told. I don't need it at all...

If you have Nero 5.5, I assume that you also have Nero Express.

Open Nero Express. Mkae sure your DVD writer is showing in the window as a DVD writer. NOT A CD writer. Click on create video DVD. Click on the ADD button top right. Go to folder where you have all the ripped files from the DVD, (Video_TS, etc). Highlight all the files in that folder, then click finished. All the files to be copied will now be in the Nero Express window ready to be burned. Click on next, then make sure the DVD burner is highlighted and the speed is set correctly. Then click burn.

I have done this hundreds of times and always successful.

    Good Luck
