Thought i'd bring this up to see what everyone is hoping for/hoping to accomplish this year and beyond. Here are a few of my things:

To buy a SUV with more carrying capacity that what my current car has. Im sure to be able to do it pretty soon.

To build my ultimate computer system...so that I can finally sit down to work on the video that ive been wanting to do for a long time but for some reason always putting it on hold.

To hopefully buy a house in a nice wooded area secluded from people so that I can live a quiet existence. Course they make house buying so difficult that it would seem to take 48 to 79 years before anyone is elgible to even remotely buy one.

Having a special someone would be nice. Course due to my shy and quiet nature and having interests that are too vastly different from others, I stand a 0 chance with women. Not to mention that I am uglier than horsecrap.

To be financially stable and to do a job that I would most enjoy for myself, and never have to worry about hardly any bills. There are some people out there that live bill-free lives lol.

To be able to travel to different places that I have never been to...course some places I know wont have a choice but to ride a plane, which im not too fond of.

Think thats about it for me.

    VTM
I have the staff of power, now it's up to me to use it to its full potential to command my life and be successful.

  3. To move sucessfully with my parents into their new house and convince them to build the house with home theatre needs in mind.

To save enough money to buy myself a jet ski.

To find a new and better job seeing I have to quit my old one.

To sucessfully launch my new internet business and have it bring in enough money to make goal 2 possible.

To travel either overseas sometime this year or to spend a week or two at the snow skiing.

To pass all my university courses with flying colours.

To finally finish my car audio project that has been in the works now for at least 5 months.

To sort out my tangled mess of a love life and get some clarity in it.

As you can see, not much happening.

  4. To stop thinking I'm a bad ass when I beat my friends at board games.

To wait longer after someone has left the room before I make fun of them.

To stop saying "Mention my name. You'll get a good seat!" when people excuse themselves to go to the bathroom.

To stop comparing my relationships with those in movies or on TV.

Add that to my list. I do that way too often also.

  6. I have one goal this year.

I've been dreaming of building a model railroad since I was in high school. The three important elements for such a venture are space, money and time. I have all three, so maybe this year I'll quit bitching about not being able to do it and actually get it done.

Hope? Well... A thought for those of you out there with parents that are still alive, and you have a close relationship with them.

I'm 32. My father is 63. He's starting to show signs of, as he would say, his wear and tear. Last Chirstmas, it hit me that his life is finite, and at some point I'll likely be without him. My hope is that I will better appreciate his presence, rather than just taking it for granted.

Same here. I'd also like to get laid this year, so I won't have to so much.

Hey, Im into model trains too. Ive had my first Lionel train set for Christmas in 1987 from my mom....from that point I started my train collection. Recently a few years ago I gotten into O gauge scale....i just love the detail of the freight cars and the locomotives. Hopefully one day ill be able to get a house large enough to make me a room just to house my trains. The majority of my hobbies are expensive...so it may take me some time to fully realize my dreams.

I know it may seem a bit humerous Rick (dont worry im not offended), but sometimes thats how i feel seriously, and its reality when i tend to feel that way. I myself have it very hard approaching women and talking to them, and if i am unsuccessful to get their attention, then i blame and put myself down for failure. Women I guess is the one thing I was never good at as far as making conversation with, and not sure I ever will be. Women dont want boring, tasteless guys. Thats why I shrugg off the question when im asked why I never dated yet (and im 26, to be 27 in March). Simply put, I have nothing women want and therefore have no capability. But over time, though tough at times, am trying to be content with being single and living alone, so when I think on those terms its not so bad. I think that love is only meant for the special few....because i dont think it exists for me.

Model trains, digital video editing, golf. Yeah, I know about expensive hobbies.

I got my first HO set in 1st grade. It was running right up to my senior year in high school. I also have a healthy appreciation for N Scale, including 15 Kato N-Scale C44-9W Santa Fe Warbonnets. And now, I have two completely empty bedrooms in which to play. Sick.

I still feel the need to apologize, as I thought you were trying to be humerous. Sorry my friend...

Jeesh, that's hard going Tech, do you really feel like that?
I remember a period a long time ago when it just wasn't happening for me.
I wouldn't say I was as ugly as horsecrap but I had an issue with my ears (I'd only just left school and had small scale bullying about the fact they stuck out slightly for a while) and after a skirmish my nose would a little odd.
I longed for a girlfriend and it just wouldn't happen.
To cut a long story short I stopped trying (and boy did I try during that preceeding year) and I just enjoyed myself.
I still maintained the same social life and my confidence began to grow.
Women began to show an interest and one in particular is still with me now, some thirteen years later and married for the last five.
I suupose all I'm saying is let nature run it's course.
You already seem convinced it isn't going to happen (which I personally think is a little drastic) but in your eyes you haven't anything to lose so take what comes and see what happens.
I hope it works out for you buddy, I really do.

As for the thread title, I plan to relieve myself of the un-necessary stress I carry around with me and to be a little more patient with the people I like/love.
I also plan to eliminate the pursuit of the materialistic things that come and go and have absolutely no importance.
I know that makes me sound kinda wooden but my financial future has changed drastically recently and I have to learn to cut back and use my money for the important things, not the latest Pionner x8 burner!

By saving and investing and not spending money on stupid stuff. My house is a repo I bought real cheap ($32K) and I am fixing up myself. I buy cars new but keep them for well over a decade and also fix them myself. Not having stupid monthly payments on stuff helps a lot because I can save a very high % of my after tax income.

That might be the most important thing said in a long time. It's hard though, at least for me. Everytime I get on that path, something (or someone) will come along and give me a swift kick back toward the other way. It can be frustrating.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

Well, you can check both IP's and see if they are one in the same , but one of them could be running through a proxy too.
