I know that this question is maybe in the wrong forum, but, it does have to do with an Apple product.

I have downloaded Quick Time 6 for Windows so that I can play MPEG-4 videos.

But, now I have the Quick Time logo in my task bar.

How do I get rid of it?

I can't seem to find any control in Quick Time to remove it.

    WOW this is a first!

you shoudl be able to put the mouse over it like you were to open it from the task bar, right click and choose DELETE or REMOVE

been a long time since i used the dark side of the force so im not 100% sure on this.

Yes, that was the way I removed Quick Time from the Window task bar in the pass.

But, now there is no such command.

All one gets is is everthing BUT that.

I hope this does not mean a reg hack.

Sometime, "biting" in to the Apple seems better and better

I have QT6.5 at work on Windows because I can't seem to let go of the iTunes Music Store. The QT icon is in the little tray, but I don't see anywhere in QT preferences where you can stop it from appearing there. It's like the option to disable that is the ONLY preference not in preferences. Now that's VERY Windows!

    YES it does

I already have 10 other things in my system tray and I don't need anything more. Especially since I only use Quick Time 6.5 for Apple (and now) MPEG-4 videos.

And I am not the only one who is driven mad by this.

There is an (unanswerd) post on the Apple web site that ask the same question

You can right-click on it, choose 'quicktime preferences', and uncheck the 'quicktime system tray icon' checkbox, and it goes away.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

    DOH

I finally found the command to remove the quick-time icon from the window sys tray.

The problem was that this command is burried under other commands.

For those who want to get rid of the sys tray icon do this:

1: Right Click on the Quick Time Icon in your Sys Tray.

2: Left Click the " Quick Time Preferences" line

3: When the "Quick Time Settings" Window pops up scroll down (or up) untill you get to "Browser Pluc-In."

4: Un check the box next to "Quick Time System Tray Icon"

And the Windows Police will ever know that you have an Apple application on your computer just by looking at it

At any rate, thanks, it was bugging me too, and I couldn't remember where the checkbox was hiding
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
