I have bought a new photo camera (panasonic Lumix) and it uses QT for its video clips. Now I cannot use windows movie maker anymore. How can I get around this problem?

Try Quicktime Pro?
And there may be a few other programs that can handle that format. You could try installing Quicktime Alternative as it supplies the needed codec. Then see if WMM will open it. But I doubt it.
