I just started to burn my old VHS tapes on my DVDR75 and now I wonder if it is possible to rip these files from the burned DVD into i.e Pinnacle Studio or Moviemaker or similar and there remove unwanted clips, adding overlay text, menus a.s.o
Thanx in advance

dont know about the apps you are talking about, however, moviefactory 2 and definetely TMPGENC DVD author will allow you to do this.

could dvd-to-mpeg 2.0 do this?
Pinnacle reads mpeg
Will there be any loss in quality? -

Check out the guides section on the left, it's very comprehensive/good.
If you do this, or indeed the files are already mpeg2 on the DVD-r then it's unwise and not recommended to edit an mpeg.
You will you most definately degrade the quality (mpeg encoded to another mpeg).
