I've put home movies on DVD and they will not play after the DVD has gotten warm! they will play but you can't fast fwd them or go backwards.
If I try to copy the movie on the DVD to my HD i get a I/O error but if I wait a few hours after it cools off I can move the movie onto my HD and once it warms up I'll get I/O error again so if I let it cool off for a while it will work again.
Does this make any sense to you? All the DVD's i have made do this and play fine on a reguler DVD player.

I assume that this behavior occurs when you play the DVD in your DVD recorder? Could it be that your DVD recorder has a problem searching when it is warm?

Sounds to me like a media quality issue. If the heated up (from viewing) DVD warps or distorts a little due to the 2 halves of the DVD expanding and contracting at different rates, I spose it could cause what he's reporting.
I'm no expert by any means.....but that's what I'd assume if that happened to me. I recommend trying a higher quality media, and checking to see that u have good air flow thru yer puter case. If your drive is getting too hot, causing this, then you might have other problems to deal with. My 2 cents.
