Hi there,
The last 24 hours I was trying to find hints on how to do it, but somehow I don't understand the whole subject. I saw may post and guides and some of it I understand, but not enough to do it myself.
I have a Win 98SE, about 2GB space on my hdd and would like to burn some movies onto a cd-r (or two). Furthermore I use ImTOO and Nero.
My first trial run went quite smooth, I'm happy about the quality of the video and audio, but the result was not satisfying. The height of the picture is about 1.5 of the original. So you will tell me I have to read all those posts and guides about the aspect ratio, ... I know, I know, but ... I don't know. I was searching for "ImTOO" on this site and found not too much information about it. Mainly commercials that it's supposed to be great. Is there anybody out there that acctually works with it and can give me some explanation about how it works? Especially the zoom feature in the output part?
I tried it with a 16/9 movie, or at least I think it was.
Is it actually enough to use ImTOO and then use the mpg's and burn them onto the cd-r's with nero? Or do I need to do something else in between? Can I change the size of the encoded mpg's before I burn them?
The other thing that I wonder is ...
After encoding with subtitles, can I still move the subtitles up or down, or are they now "inside the picture"? That would also mean when I resize the picture the subtitles would be resized too?
That brings me to my 2nd trial run: I used ImTOO and used the offset feature for the subtitles (100px). Since I have (or should have) so much space above and below the picture I thourght, why not put the subtitles below into the bottom part and it wouldn't disturb the picture. Then something rather unexpected happend. The subtitle was almost out of the picture (80%) and that is almost acceptable, and the little side effect that the movie's heigth reduces to 1.2x height of the original is not that bad eighter. But basically it just got squeezed in: The subtitle is somehow squeezed too, so the letters are very hard to read. And I wonder if the quality of the movie wouldn't be better when I really resize it.
This is only the first part. What I actually miss most here would be a guide for real newbies. For those who don't know anything at all ... Like me
Thanks for your help ...
