I own a Pioneer DVD-106s (couple years old) and have flashed the firmware to rpc-1 v1.22.
When I use the drive checking utility it tells me that the drive is still region protected, but other people get a message that their drive is not region protected after using rpc-1 firmware (not necessarily the dvd-106) but I can change the region manually by using the hardware device manager or using 'DVD Region Killer' as many times as I want without the counter of available changes left moving from 4.
I guess the real question is, is this because my drive cannot be made to a real rpc-1 drive just a hacked rpc-2 one.
If anyone could answer this for me that would be great.
