  1. Hi,
I have checked out your list for DVD recorder and found that only few record in both NTSC and PAL.
But I read in this forum itself someone saying that 'ALL RECORDER RECORD IN BOTH NTSC AND PAL from composite and ilink inputs'.. only their tuner may be NTSC or PAL ie when you are recording from the tuner then you can record in NTSC or PAL and they may be region specific while playing.

In your list is the results in recording are from tv tuner or composite/firewire input?

    Please clarify.
    Thanks

  2. Tuner is usualy only one standard. NTSC or PAL. I have not seen DVD Recorder with NTSC and PAL TV tuner (like VCR - Samsung SV-5000W).

So answer is... In my list I am refering to ability to record from External Input.

Also answer to another question is : No. Not all recprders record "other" format too. Especialy true in US. Probably different in EU or rest of the world.

And last one : Yes. They are region specific when they play commercial DVDs. Some (few) have hack available.

  3. Hi,
Thanks for your reply .So the conclusion is :

    1. A DVD recorder will have NTSC or a PAL tuner to record in NTSC or PAL from TV programs. Depend where it is manufactured US or Europe.

    2. Same is true for recording thru composite or ilink input ie recording can be done in either NTSC or PAL. NOT BOTH.Maybe european models record both but not models made in USA.

So I should purchase a DVD recorder from Europe as we use PAL here.
    Please confirm
    Thnks

  4. 1) It is not realy where it is manufactured, but for which market it is manufactured

    2) There are Recorders that can record PAL and NTSC from external input. Important is that you can't mix on one DVD NTSC and PAL.

What do you "here" ? Also... not all PAL are same PAL
