sorry will
i just opend dvd shrink and re-did it but i unchecked all the subtitles like english, french, spanish.
but what i was wondering say in the movie a chinese guy starts to speak and the original movie usually displays words in english will it still do that?
and removing the eng, french, spanish will that solve my problem as to the words that automatically keep coming up on the screen? -
No need to apologise to me man
I used to get this problem on a select few disks, it goes away when you hit the subtitle button on your remote, right?

Personally I don;t remov ethe subtitles now.
I've done 'the sum of all fears' twice now and still lose the subtitles.
They're so small in size you aren't gaining anything really by dropping them.
Sorry to disapoint but I'll be watching this post with interest, I can't help with you query but would sure like to know

I backed up "TOMORROW NEVER DIES" There are a couple of places in the beginning and the end where they speak Korean. I never could figure out where THOSE subtitles went. Didn't matter with the main subtitles. I did a movie only backup and they were gone. Maybe someone else knows.....Terence

I never knew subs that automatically display. Is your dvd player set to automatically display subs? They shouldn't come on until you select them from the main menu on play back.

The only 'auto subtitling' ive seen were actually built into the movie.. IE -LOTR.
-
You should do a search on "forced subs"
I think that it's for those ocassions where a foreign language is spoken and it's necessary to throw on those subtitles. On the LOTR Two towers backup I made, the subs are actually encoded ON the video. No actual subs from some sub track were displayed.
Forced subs contain a flag that forces them to display at their specific time interval. They can be 'buried' inside of a regular sub track.Happy to be here.
