I just stopped off at Office Depot. They are selling 15-pack spindles of Maxell 4X DVD-R and 4X DVD+R for $26.97. That's $1.80 per disk with no jewel cases, which is cheaper than Wal-Mart's $2.00 per disk in jewel cases. Maybe about the same if you figure 20 cents for a jewel case.
I bought one 15-pack of each.
The 4X Maxell DVD-R have media code of: MXLRG02
The 4X Maxell DVD+R have media code of: RICOHJPNR01

    Pretty good price for Maxell.

I said it was a pretty good price *for Maxell*, not a pretty good price, period.

There are some people who swear by Maxell, despite the RICOHJPNR01 media code being available elsewhere for less. As far as MXLRG02 media is concerned, I don't think it is available from anybody else.

I personally have had no problems with Maxell, and I feel much more confident using them than any other brand, same media code or not.

This post was just for the Maxell fans out there. If you don't like 'em at that price, don't buy 'em.

I was in my local Office Depot this afternoon (Jan 17) and the Maxell 15pack DVD+R 4x media were priced at $66!

  7. FYI: Just found the Maxell 4X 15-Pack on a spindle at Fry's Electronics for $19.99. I don't think it was a sale price, but rather the normal price for the item. They had quite a few too at the Burbank, CA location.

I've bought Maxell dvd+r's in 10 packs and have had 2-3 coasters in every batch. Not a very good deal @ 10 for 23.95 (WalMart).

I also use Memorex 4X DVD+R's and have found no problems with them. The best deal I've found for them is at Amazon.com. A 25 pack spindle is only $29.99 with free shipping.
