Hey
Sorry if this is a really obvious question or if it's (and it probably will have) already been answered.
Getting a DVD Recorder. Gonna connect it up to my TV/Video (all in one). Am I able to record videos, as well as TV, onto DVDs, under the basic premise that the DVD Recorder's able to simply record what's on the TV? Or is it more complicated than that? Does it depend on the DVD Recorder/TV-video I have?
Hope someone can be of help.
Thanks
Andy

A DVD recorder can be cosidered a VCR replacement, just uses a different media. So think what you can do with a VCR, and you can do the same with your DVD recorder.

Just remember that if you are trying to record a copy protected video tape to dvd recordable you will need something to disable the copy protection from the tape. If you are backing up non copy protected stuff, no problem.

well the typical problem of hooking up a VCR also goes with DVD-R, (If you have cable satellite whatever
Cable Service->VCR->Cable box->TV
(Some cable boxes don't like working this way, use Composite out from VCR-TV and switch inputs to go from Live to VCR
Cable box needs to be on channel 3 to play tapes. VCR can record a program and you can watch another channel, but can't record digital cable, channels above 125 (depending on VCR or Service,) only workaround is if cable box has composite out, wire that to the composite in on the vcr, and record from that channel, (Usually you can slelct it as channel 0)
Cable Service->Cable Box->VCR->TV
Never have to mess with anything to go back and forth between the sources, VCR can only record what's on the TV, (May be a problem if you want to do a lot of timer recording.)
