AVI 2 DVD

I transfered an .avi file from a DV tape to my hard drive and used Pinaclesys Studio 8. I edited the avi into what I wanted the final product to look like. I then used the section to make a DVD and after it rendered and burned the DVD i was unsatisfied when playing it back on my TV.

Is there a way to make it look like a DVD and not some cheap made movie.
should I use something else to make the DVD (another authoring/ encoder) software?
any help would be greatly appreciated.....

One option would be to export your project as DV AVI and encode it with something like TMPGEnc or Mainconcept Encoder.

so would Adobe Premiere's Encoder be better?
