    Is there a way of converting .BUP .IFI and .VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder to AVI without using DVD2AVI as i just cannot get thr hang of it.

    Virtualdub MPEG2 can handle VOB files with ease.

    Use Auto Gordian Knot. You don't need the .IFO and .BUP files to make an AVI. Those files are used to tell the DVD player how to play the video on your disc. However you will need a program like DVD Decrypter to rip the files to your hard drive first.
