Anybody know of one?
Not inverse telecine. but a filter to take an avi (or any source) of 23.976fps, and turn it into an avi of 29.97.

im sorry im not sure how to do the avi but pulldown.exe does it to mpeg files you can search for a avi version of pulldown.

Yes TMPGenc has one. Look on the advanced tab. Once setting it up, hit file/output to file and select avi, or just encode straight to mpg.

I know of the one in TMPGEnc. And you can frameserve out, by saving a TMPGEnc project.
But I don't plan on my final destination being mpeg.
It would be nice to be able to do a 2:3, along with using other filters in virtualdub. So you can encode an interlaced AVI, at 29.97fps.
--------------------------------
Sorta off the subject but.
Is there anyway you change the order the filters are applied in TMPGEnc?
It would be good for having a 23.976 source, then telecining up to 29.97, then blurring fields or whatever deinterlace. Because the standard for VCD is 29.97fps. But it seems that you can't deinterlace after doing a telecine, without saving a project, and frameserving into its self.
Like,
TMPGEnc 2:3 > Save project > open source as project file > deinterlace.
Rather just do 2:3, and deinterlace in the same session.
Source is 23.976. and want to end up with 29.97fps progressive. Without speeding up. -
A little know feature about tmpge is that it can encode avi's as well. it is one of the options under the file dropdown menu, im not at home right now and it has been a while since i have done it but, why would you wnat to use pullldown if it is not going to be an mpeg? What I mean is why would you want to change the frame rate. What is your final product going to be?

DivXExpert: Like I said in my original post, hit file/output to file/ and select avi to make TMPGenc encode to avi. It will process any filters that you set, so yes it should do a hard telecine on your avi and export an avi file. Sorry I don't know of any vdub filters that can do this.
DivXExpert I think you are making things much harder on yourself. I cannot think of a single instance where performing a hard telecine would ever be useful. The VCD standard does NOT require 29.97fps encoding, only 29.97fps playback. If you encode at 23.976fps any VCD compatible dvd player will automatically perform a real time telecine giving you 29.97fps. If your source is 23.976fps, and VCD is your desired output, than telecining to 29.97fps is the worst thing you can do.
Why on earth would you ever want a 29.97fps interlaced avi when you have a 23.976fps progressive one to start with? What exactly are you trying to do? Whatever your purpose, I seriously doubt you need to bother performing a hard 2:3 pulldown. -
