*The video sequence header is incorrect.
The video sequence header is incorrect.
A video sequence header is necessary for every GOP in a standard DVD.
I try and try, but always get this error in tmpgenc dvd author.
I tried to do first header entire file non patching...
Whats the right way? the right settings?

You don't tell which Program Streams you are trying to use with TMpgEnc DVD Author. It doesn't take to SVCD files or rips at all, I have noticed, though it swallows 1/2 D1 MPEG-2's without a murmur. When I feed it ATI Radeon AIW MPEG-1 files, it gives the same complaint that you get. For some reason or other, ATI MMC 8.1 does not put a Sequence Header in front of every GOP. And that is what is needed.
Now I have read somewhere how to correct this without re-encoding. Only I don't remember WHERE I read it. Only that it works with MPEG-1 Program Streams. I do it all the time.
Start up TMpgEnc (the Encoder), close the Wizard, choose File-->MPEG Tools and then the Merge & Cut Tab. Select MPEG-1 VCD (non-standard) at the top. Click Add and browse to put your file into the list. Select the file, and click Browse at the bottom. Select a location and a (different) name for the resulting file. Then click Run.
For some mysterious reason, TMpgEnc de-multiplexes the stuff, then re-multiplexes it WHILE PUTTING IN GOP SEQUENCE HEADERS. This does not happen if you do a demux/remux yourself with the first two tabs.
And, remember, this is MPEG-1 stuff. I do not know whether it works on SVCD or other MPEG-2 files. You might try it out, though, changing the line at the top to SVCD or something else.
Hope this helps at least a little.
And thanks to the guy whose name I forgot..

The original article is at: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/126292.php
The author's name is Michael Tam, and he states later, in the forum, that it also works on SVCD. -
whoohoo
thanks a lot dude, they are vcd files and your walkthrough do the trick.

I am really impressed by the policies of Pegasys Inc and TmpgEnc's author: offering an excellent program for free, only 'crippled' as to the use of the MPEG-2 Encoder (which I never use though I did register to the Plus version gladly).
I wish many of the greedy money grabbers, great (MS) and small, would follow their example. When I wrote programs, long ago, they always were free of copyright restrictions.
No, I don't mean Chrissyboy: his price is reasonable, and he works hard at it and gives superb support.
