  1. I am just trying to set up the machine, & like others have a hard time with the book!

I am wondering HOW to get the display on the recorder to show the time??!! or does it?

I have it set correctly to time & date in setup,
but for some reason what is ON the display is the "record mode"
    I can switch it between
    "xp R 18:10"
    "SP R 36:20"
    "LP R 72.42"
    "EP R 108:52"

now just WHAT do these times mean?? & are they supposed to be ON the screen at all times???

I am also trying to figure out HOW to get it to record & play a different channel at the same time. I tested recording a cable channel to see what happens, but I could not change the channel. ( I followed the book directions(pressed tv/video--press ^ to change channels) no go.
I have cable attached to the RF in the recorder back & then, RF into the back of tv. I have the RCA coming from the recorder(OUT 1) into the back of the tv, where my display is shown on the tv.

so far I can get the display/menu/setup to show on screen. & I can switch tv channels............ have a lot to go,, (VBG)

I don't know why manufacturers do this, but whatever you read in manual about this just cofuse people like you. YOU CAN'T. Or be more precise, you can tune to different channel on TV using TV Tuner like your DVD Recorder does not exist and you never had one
