Hi guys,
Just bought myself a DVD burner after years of svcd's.
I'm trying to convert a xvid file to dvd using TMPGEnc. I'm using the project wizard & selecting 'VBR MPEG-1 Layer II Audio (MP2)'. When I select this type of audio I keep getting an error saying 'illegal mpeg stream'.
I've tried 2 different film files, one with ac3 & the other with Fraunhofer IIS Mpeg Layer-3. Both are giving the same error. In enviromental settings -> Audio engine I have external decoders set up, these have always worked ok when converting to svcd with either type of audio.
Anyone know what could be giving me this error?
Am I better off using PCM audio? Is so please tell me why.
Another question I have is if the source file is ntsc 23.976fps should I convert to DVD ntsc 16:9 & check the box 3:2 pulldown as ntsc DVD is 29.976?
When I converted movies to svcd I changed all files to pal prior to encoding, will the above save me a process as my DVD player will play ntsc?
Please help, thanks in advance.

I get that same sort of problem, But i get to around 98-99% done, Then i get that error.
I see that you don't even get started. -
I forgot to mention that if I use PCM audio it works fine. Could it be because the source was is 23.976 & was converting to pal 25.000fps.
Please help. -
Have you tried using avi2svcd.
I have used this and never had a problem. I usually use cce for the encoding.
