    I would like to take DV video,and convert it for playing on CD-ROM at or near full screen. For the sake of compatibility, I want to avoid DIVx and DVD viewers so that anyone with a CD-ROM should be able to view the results.

    Any guides or recommendations?

    Encode it to VCD standard - this allows full screen playback and should be the most compatible of all.
