I once worked in television news and when the station folded I wound up with boxes and boxes of DVC-PRO video cassettes. I'm in need of getting some things off some of these tapes now though. Does ANYONE out there have or have access to a DVC-Pro machine? Please let me know if you do, I can reward you greatly.

The JVC BR-DV3000 deck is supposed to read those tapes, as well as DV-cam tapes. I haven't tried any in them in, so it is unconfirmed. Also most of the Sony DV-Cam decks will play back the DVCpro tapes. That may give you some other options.

If I had 1600 bucks, trust me, I'd be all over one of those decks.

Oopps. The JVC decks do not list DVCpro as an available playback format.

It sounds like you might have hours of tape to transfer, how were you planning to have the video sent back to you? You are only going to be able to get about 17 hours worth of stuff onto a 250GB hard drive, which sounds like the only good way to send it. DVD only holds about 18 minutes of DV video.

How many hours of video do you have?

Most of the Sony DVCam decks will playback DVCPro, as well as miniDV. They just won't do LP speed DV.

Over a hundred. The stuff is kinda interesting though... they are satellite feeds of wrestling events before they went on the air... filming promos and interviews, breaking character, planning matches, etc. I'm hoping to find someone who has access to these machines and also likes wrestling.

I would just need each one transferred to VHS in SP speed. If you'd like to email me on this matter, its dvdsandgames@bellsouth.net
