  1. Error Occurred During Capture is the actual error message.

It was working ok until I upgraded the win2k drivers and motherboard drivers due to the blaster worm virus scare.
I also changed a bios setting in order to get all my USB devices and network card to work together.
Previously, if the network card worked, the USB card did not and vice-versa; both used IRQ 11.
They still use IRQ 11 but work simultaneously now

Dazzle technical support said to install DirectX 9 (I had been running 8.1) and uninstall all Dazzle software and clean up the registry and then re-install.
I did that but it still does not work.
Have spent days following the advice on the Dazzle website, optimizing, de-optimizing DMA, Video and Bios but the the Error occurs.

    Any suggestions?

Yes, find the darkest place in your house and place the Dazzle unit there. Then forget it. Go and get something better. I had one.....now where did I put it? Sorry but Dazzle products are known for their instablity, problems with set-up and poor supported software, and besides Pinnacle just bought them up to get their crappy products off of US Store Shelves.

the only thing we have to fear is fear itself --FDR

Drivers and motherboard settings etc have nothing to do with Virii

If you are that worried about it
    1. Go to the darkest place in the house where you put your Dazzle.
    2. Read up on Virii

  4. IT WORKS NOW! My wife is glad so she can spend the $250 I was going to spend on the ADVC 200 or whatever it is. Wait a minute....she has already spent the money....I could not have bought the other unit anyway.

The utility program does not work though, but MovieStar 5.3 does.
(previously, I could not get MovieStar to work and tech support recommended using the utility program)
(By the way, motherboard settings as described at the dazzle website are very important for the utility to work. The utility program worked until I installed the MS WIN2k service paks)

Here is the response from tech support which worked, (it was a followup response but it worked)
    Dear Customer,

Thank you for the update. I would recommend you to use Moviestar to capture video.
You can download the latest version of our MovieStar 5 software (version 5.3.0.25) for your Dazzle product by logging into the following FTP (file transfer protocol) site:

    IP Address: 204.60.90.69
    Username: ms5-3
    Password: MStar-5.3

Remember the login(username) and password are both case sensitive.

Or you can also just copy and paste the link below into your web browser to start the download.

    ftp://ms5-3:MStar-5.3@204.60.90.69

Note: The login and passsword will change on a regular basis, we recommend downloading your software within 24 hours of receiving this information.

Important: We provide FTP (File Transfer Protocol) access as an added convenience for our valued customers. Now you can get your updated software in minutes (on a broadband connection) or hours (on a dialup connection,) instead of days waiting for CD to come via mail.

  6. I made a typo above, it should read
The utility program worked until I installed the MS WIN2k service paks AND CHANGED THE MOTHERBOARD SETTINGS AND DRIVERS TO GET THE NETWORK CARD AND USB CARD TO WORK TOGETHER)

  7. Hi,

I just rebuilt my computer and now have a problem with the DVXCELKSTest utility. I previously had very good results using it along with GraphEdit to produce great SVCDs. However, since I reinstalled the operating sytem, I have a problem. No matter what I set the audio rate to, the DVXCELKSTest only outputs 48 kHz. This makes the caputered MPEG non SVCD compliant. I noticed that you have the latest drivers:

    Latest DVC 150 Driver, 3.40 (March 12, 2003)
    DVXCel test utility 3.30

Unfortunately, there is no way to get these since Pinnacle had stopped all old DAZZLE support. Could you try sending these to me?

    Mike

  8. I attempted to download the patched DVXCELKSTest utility but the provided link in this trail appears to be dead. Is there another location to download this patch from, or would anyone be interested in sending me their downloaded copy? Thanks in advance for this, and for all of the other great information available here!

  9. makkar:

I have been using the Dazzle 150 for several months now and have had good results with it. The Pinnacle software is buggy, but will work for capture.

I think the key that a lot of folks ignore is that you really need a dedicated machine to do video/audio processing on and keep the internet, network, games, etc., off of it. When you start loading up a machine, you open the door for conflicting interaction between installed devices. IRQ conflicts are common problems and can be extremely hard to nail down. WindowsXP (hopefully) will go a long way towards mitigating this kind of conflict. We will see. Just my opinion.
