  1. I have home movies I have burned to DVD+R. I now want to get clips of a friend's family from several of these DVDR's to my computer since I don't have the original files, then combine them into one DVDR. I thought I did this the other night and it worked, but last night could not get it to work. I thought what I did the first night was use DVDDecrypter to rip, rename the VOB's to mpg and it played fine on the Windows Media player - video + audio. Last night, I did the same thing - different disc, but only get video in the file I rename from VOB to mpg, no audio. Any idea what's wrong? I've read for hours on here and haven't found a solution, or maybe it's unique to this disc. Original burns were with MPEG audio, not PCM. Once I get all the files off the DVDR's I want, I'm going edit, combine, etc with Pinnacle to put back on one DVDR. WinXP, 1.4 GHZ, 640MB RAM, Pinnacle Studio 8 to make DVD files, Nero 5.5 to burn. Just trying to avoid going through all the VHS tapes again and capturing the appropriate spots. Thanks to all. This website is the best!

  2. I am not sure if it is just that easy... rename VOB to mpg. You might need to extract mpg with some tool.

  3. Well, I decrypted 7 or 8 more home movies, renamed the VOB extension to mpeg and all have video and audio. Just the one mentioned above did not. Can't figure the one out. I'll just recapture!
