  1. Is there a way to burn a DVD-R from DVD-9 on-the-fly. 8)

I have an LG GSA-4040B DVD Burner and a LG DVD-ROM.

I tried with cloneDVD and it didnīt give an option to directly to save the compressed files on the DVD-R.

I tried with Nero it said that has insufficient space in the target disc.

Is it possible with the equipment that I have

I thought I read that the new DVDShrink could, but dont hold me to it.

BTW, why would you want to do that? That is awfully time comsuming. Your buffer would probably keep running out and have to refresh itself quite often. Plus if there are any errors, you wil have wasted a disc. I would want to verify my results.

Personally I like to watch my converted DVD (WinDVD) before I burn it to a $1 disc...but thats just me.

Nero Recode can do it. It will Transcode and output to your DVD drive directly....but one thing Nero Recode does not do is copy protected DVD's so you will need anydvd or any other on the fly decrypting software.

The new DVD Shrink cannot do this.

Although, it may now be possible I certainly would not recommend it.

Just take the extra time and produce a good quality back-up. DVD2One provides decent quality and doesn't take very long usu 20-30 mins. I have heard DVDshrink is good but never used it myself.
