  1. Just got my E80 yesterday, and have been quite overwhelmed by the manual(nothing new).

My first task is to set up timer recording to capture my wife's soap opera. I think I've got that taken care of. Here's my problem. Most of the time my wife and daughter will just watch directly from the HDD, but there are times when they need to move into another room which has a standalone DVD player. So what is the fastest way to get the recorded shows from the HDD to a DVD-R and maintain just VHS quality(I'm not concerned with "lossless" dubbing for this scenario)?

    Thanks for any help,

    John

    1) Buy them a Panasonic S-35 DVD player as it will accept the DVD-RAM discs.

    2) Transfer to DVD-R on your computer with TMPGEnc DVD Author (with or without menu).

I am assuming you have some way of transferring DVD-RAM to your computer HDD?

  3. Thanks for being the first to reply

I'm not looking to add any new hardware, nor do I think my wife would be too keen on that since I just paid $509 for the E80.

All I want to know is what I need to do in order to have the transfer take the least amount of time, knowing we're just talking about a soap opera so quality isn't a major concern(it still has to be viewable though).

    Thanks,

    John

  4. Johnny, if you're recording to the hard drive first: Record to your HD with *dvd compatible mode* set to ON. Then high speed dub the program from your hard drive to a DVD-RAM (if your other player will read a RAM disc) or DVD-R disc.

Recording the program to your HD with DVD compatible mode on will allow you to use the high speed dub feature....It will never take more than 1 hr to high speed dub to a blank disc.
