TMPGnc Author wants the GOP adjusted

Hi, an am trying to create a DVD compliant files ready for burning from a *.mpg when I load the file into TMPGnc author I get an error.

the video GOP is too long

How do I adjust the GOP length?

Couple options.
1) Reencode the video file using a proper dvd template to start. Max gop is 18 for ntsc and 15 for pal I believe.

2) The only other way is use a different auth program that will let you ignore the error and hope your player will play the files.

I vote for option one personally.

1) hit ignore and author anyway. it will play

2) use womble mpeg-vcr. under the tools menu check gop fixer.

Thanks for your ideas.
I got installed a copy of Womble and it fixed the GOP issue, only to replace it with another problem. This time I am getting this error message.

Could no initalize decoder

And I get this when as soon as I try to load up the file in Author.

Ideas??
